My Why…
I'm Abi , a qualified counsellor (MNCPS Reg), and a mum of two.
With my first child, I had undiagnosed ADHD. I was drowning. Paralysed. Consumed by guilt. Convinced something was deeply wrong with me 😫. I thought I had postnatal depression. I couldn't prioritise, couldn't look after myself and couldn't seem to function the way other mums appeared to.
Then I had my daughter, my second child. By this point I had my diagnosis. I understood what was happening in my brain 🧠. I was able to do things differently and put less pressure on myself. And honestly? I got to enjoy motherhood in a way I never had before.
Same me. Same chaos of new motherhood. Completely different experience 💃.
That contrast is why I do this work 💁♀️.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 10 years working in the NHS (physiotherapy department) 🏋. I've also worked in an NHS doctors' surgery counselling children and in private practice counselling both adults and adolescents. Understanding bodies before I understood minds has been invaluable and shaped a lot of how I work now including nervous systems, regulation and the physical experience of overwhelm.
I bring together person-centred counselling, nervous system-informed work (grounded in polyvagal theory), and somatic approaches. So we're working with your whole self, not just your thoughts .
As a practicing counsellor, I keep my skills and knowledge up to date through continued professional development (CPD) courses 📚. I also attend regular supervision once a month as recommended by the NCPS to ensure my practice is meeting standards and maintaining professional and ethical boundaries .

When I'm off the clock, you'll usually find me deep into a TV series (probably rewatching outlander), on a dog walk 🐾, curled up on the sofa with a good 📕 or off on a family adventure.
I'm unapologetically obsessed with Lord of the Rings and have a serious soft spot for rock music 🎸.
